Showing Support for Local Charity, The Movement Centre
We are proud to be supporting a very brave challenge to raise funds for local charity, The Movement Centre.
Shropshire based friends, Curtis and James are just weeks away from taking on an epic challenge for charity. They will take on the Offa’s Dyke path, which is around 180 miles long, and will raise vital funds for The Movement Centre.
What is The Movement Centre
The Movement Centre is a UK charity and specialist treatment centre. They support children living with movement difficulties and their families. The centre based near Oswestry, Shropshire provides a specialist children’s physiotherapy called Targeted Training Therapy, which is now fully funded by donations and fundraising.
Through a course of Targeted Training therapy children can gain head control, so they can interact with their family; it can help children develop the skills to sit unaided so that they can play with their friends. For some children, it can enable them to walk. As you can imagine this has a huge impact on the child and can be a lifeline to some families.
Best Friends Walking the Border for Local Charity
The pair are planning to take just 5 days to complete the 180-mile route, meaning they will be walking an average of 36 miles per day. The aim was to set themselves a challenge, whilst raising vital funds for The Movement Centre.
“Raising funds for such an amazing charity is the motivation we will need to complete our #walkingtheborder challenge. Having completed the Offa’s Dyke path in 2021 over 9 days, I started thinking it could be done faster. Knowing Curtis fancies a challenge, I knew he would be up for something like this.” James said.
He continued “A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us so far. We are delighted to have the support from some local businesses who are sponsoring a day each, and I would urge people who want to give us some motivation, to visit our Just Giving page”
To maximise the funds raised for The Movement Centre, the pair offered sponsorship opportunities for each day, contacting local companies.
“We are delighted to have support from Welshpool Printing Group, Adele Carr Recruitment, Agritel, A N Richards and Belgrave Wincham, who have all contributed towards the fundraising”
Curtis added “We are hoping to raise a £1,000 for The Movement Centre and thanks to our 5 amazing sponsors we are already up to £550. We are looking forward to documenting our journey, and even having some of the businesses join us walking some of the route. A huge thank you to them for supporting us and The Movement Centre.”
