Pantone Colour of the Year 

Pantone have announced that Pantone 17-5104 Ultimate Gray + PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating as their colour of the year. They have announced that they have chosen two colours for 2021 as they are “A marriage of colour conveying a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting.”

“The union of an enduring Ultimate Gray with the vibrant yellow illuminating expresses a message of positivity supported by fortitude. Practical and rock solid but at the same time warming and optimistic, this is a combination that gives us resilience and hope. But who exactly are Pantone

Pantone are an American company that provide a universal range of colour. They began in 1963, by introducing the Pantone Matching System which supplied a range of 500 colours. Between 1963 and 1983 they established themselves as the graphics arts industry standards for colour specification and increased its range of colours to 747. They now offer a range of over 1300 different colours within their library which includes, classics, neon’s and metallics.

Since 2000 they have announced their colour of the year, and their very first colour was the Cerulean Blue – 15-402.

The most well-known segment of Pantone is the Colour Institute, and they study

“colour influences human thought processes, emotions and physical reactions, furthering its commitment to providing professionals with a greater understanding of colour and to help them utilise colour more effectively” according to its website.
