We are so pleased to have been chosen as the new journal printers for the Gwynedd Family History Society
We first met with the society officers earlier last year to discuss a move to using our journal printing services.
During our meeting, we discussed ways of improving the print quality whilst making savings where possible.
Improvements & Savings by Journal Printers
The small changes we advised was a slight alteration to the size that not only cut costs on materials but also save on postage costs.
The main improvements we suggested was to firstly, work with our studio team to achieve the highest quality for the very precious and old images that fill these journals.
The second improvement was to add a matt lamination to the cover. This simple but effective finishing technique prevented the spine from cracking, which was a problem for previous editions.
Final Printed Journal
It was decided that the finished journal was to be an A4 68-page saddle-stitched book with a matt lamination. The journal was to be accompanied by 2 inserts, one to all members and one personalised for a section of members. The journal was to be mailed out in eco-friendly polybags.
The finished journal has received much praise from society members and we are thrilled that the society wants to team up with us again for the next issue in the spring.

Direct Mail at Journal Printers
Another reason for the society choosing WPG was due to our in-house direct mail service.
This issue of Gwreiddiau Gwynedd Roots required a varying amount of inserts.
One insert needed to go to all members like the journal but a second insert needed to be personalised to the individual and was only included for certain members.
This may sound complicated, but this is just a normal task for our direct mail team at WPG.
We printed both inserts to accompany the journal and mailed them out in eco-friendly polybags to the deadline requested.
Gwynedd Family History Society
The Society was founded in 1980 to bring together the many people interested in Family History. It caters for those with Gwynedd ancestry and they are always happy to help anyone in need of assistance with their research.
Gwreiddiau Gwynedd Roots – The Society Biannual Journal
Gwreiddiau Gwynedd Roots is the official publication of the Society and is produced in April and November.
Members are invited to send in their research interests for inclusion in the journal.
