2022 Calendar Printing with Local Schools

For our 2022 calendar printing, we wanted something a bit different – with us designing and printing so many calendars for local businesses, we wanted to add a bit of colour to ours plus involve the community if we could.

How to Add Colour to our 2022 Calendar Printing?

So we approached the Welshpool Primary Schools to see if they would like to be involved.

Both the Welshpool Church in Wales Primary School & Ysgol Gymraeg Y Trallwng said they would be delighted to get involved.

The children were asked to produce a picture that reflects a month and from these, the best would go onto our calendar for that month.

Who would judge our Calendar Pictures?

We instantly thought of a very famous local artist who is also a long-standing customer of WPG – Andrew Logan. Andrew is not just famous locally but worldwide and we were delighted when he agreed to give his time to help us.

Andrew was thrilled to be asked and once the pictures were given in, they were promptly laid out in his museum to begin the arduous job of choosing just 12.

Andrew says, “It was wonderful to enter the magic land of children and so difficult to choose winners from so many gorgeous pictures. Well done to everyone.”

Huge thanks to Andrew for taking the time to help us with this project – judging such wonderful entries was not the easiest task to be given! Joining us to meet the school children was so lovely too!

Prizes for Winners

The 12 children whose picture was chosen were presented with a t-shirt from WPG with their picture printed on the front of it.

But, all the entries were SO GOOD that we just had to include all of the pictures in our calendar design, even though it meant adding extra pages to fit them all in.

Thank you Children

As a thank you to the very talented children for their wonderful efforts, all the children in both schools were given a copy of the calendar, as well as a sketch pad and sticker from us plus a lovely postcard from Andrew Logan.

Paul Jones, WPG Joint MD says, “We were blown away with how good the artwork was. All the children made such a smashing effort that we wanted to give them something in return”

Welshpool Church in Wales Primary School

We were lucky enough to be able to do a presentation at the new Church in Wales Primary School with it being shared to all the classes via Teams.

Justine Baldwin, Headteacher at CIW Primary School said “The pupils at Welshpool Church in Wales Primary School were delighted to be asked to take part in Welshpool Printing Groups Calendar Competition. All pupils across the school took part, taking the opportunity to explore their creative skills to design images to convey the different seasons. Everyone was delighted when winners were selected from the school’s entries. This exciting competition gave the pupils a valuable opportunity to contribute in a real context for learning and explore their creative thinking.”

Ysgol Gymraeg Y Trallwng

A presentation was also made at Ysgol Gymraeg Y Trallwng where all the children also received gifts and Alice Hickinbotham was given a t-shirt with her picture representing the month of September.

“It was so nice to be asked to be involved, the children have enjoyed taking part and are delighted to have been given a calendar to keep plus lovely thank you gifts” says Angharad Davies, Acting Headteacher.

We were made to feel so welcome by both schools, all the children were so well behaved with lovely smiling faces, such a fabulous reflection of the schools of Welshpool.

If people are interested in having their own copy of the WPG calendar, they can be bought from WPG with profits going towards The Welshpool Pitch Improvement Project.
